What makes PicoWay® different from other laser tattoo removal systems?

PicoWay is the latest in laser technology using a picosecond laser with a high peak power and ultra-short pulse durations. This action leads to a photoacoustic effect, instead of a photothermal one which means
it is less likely to cause the skin to overheat resulting in a less painful experience then the previous laser tattoo removal systems.

During a treatment, the PicoWay handpiece is used to deliver extremely short pulses of energy through a precise, high-powered laser capable of targeting ink particles with impressive impact. These energy pulses shatter tattoo ink into much smaller, minuscule particles that your body can easily absorb naturally.

Yes, however, there are always possibilities of encountering risks when having any procedure done.  Prior to each procedure, a full consultation is provided to make sure that the PicoWay laser removal treatment is right for you.

The PicoWay laser works on all skin types. With customizable settings, it allows us to tailor treatments to each client’s skin type .

PicoWay treatments are typically brief, lasting 10-20 minutes. Treatments are provided over a series of treatment sessions spaced 8 weeks apart. These times can vary depending on size and placement of tattoo.

We will treat any area of the face and body.

Yes, most clients can return to their activities of daily living shortly after treatment following tattoo removal.

Redness and swelling: It is normal to experience some redness and swelling on the treated area for a few days following the treatment.  Applying ice packs can help reduce discomfort.

Blistering: It is possible to experience blistering on the treated area which can be uncomfortable. If blisters occur, avoid popping them. Should blisters become larger than a dime, you may pop them using a sterile lancet.

Scabbing and crusting: The treated area may develop scabs and/or crusts as the skin heals. It is important not to pick; doing so can result in scarring and/or interfere with the healing process.

Itching: As the skin heals, it may become itchy. It is important to avoid scratching or rubbing the area as this can delay healing and increase the risk of infection.

Sensitivity to sunlight: After tattoo removal, your skin may be more sensitive to sunlight. It is important to avoid sun exposure; or wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to protect the
area.

Each person, tattoo and epidermis is unique and therefore experiences may differ between individuals.  Initial improvement can be viewed after the first treatment. However, the effectiveness of your treatment will depend on many factors including: the age of the pigment; location of tattoo; depth; size and type.  Typically, optimal results are achieved with multiple sessions.

Varying factors come into play when it comes to tattoo removal.  Considerations which will impact the difficulty of the removal include:

Depth: When you receive a tattoo, ink is injected below the skin into the dermis. This depth presents a challenge for removal.

Ink types: Body tattoo ink is a lot more concentrated than Permanent makeup pigment.

Color: While blue and black inks are traditionally easier to treat while yellows are more difficult to remove.

Discomfort is unique and varies individually. Some pain and discomfort is possible depending on size and placement of the tattoo, however, a topical numbing cream will be used prior to aid alleviation.  We also use a cooling machine to help cool the area to help with discomfort.

Preparing for your procedure in advance will help with how much pain and swelling you may experience. Make sure that you are well rested, sober, hydrated, and have had something to eat prior to your appointment. If you are on your menstrual cycle you will be a bit more sensitive towards the pain. Sometime it is best to reschedule an appointment if you know in advance.

As a precaution, we do not perform laser tattoo removal on pregnant or nursing women.  You will have to wait a minimum of 60 days after birth/nursing.
